The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
