The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
