(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moosa, when We sent him with a clear proof towards Firaun. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
