The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ God's command comes; so seek not to hasten it. Glory be to Him! High be He exalted above that they associate with Him! 1 He sends down the angels with the soul of faith – the divine revelations – towards those among His bondmen He wills that, “There is no worship except for Me, therefore fear Me.” 2 He hath created the heavens and the earth with a purpose. Exalted is He above that which they associate. 3 He created man from a small seed and lo! he is an open contender. 4 And He creates cattle: you derive warmth from them, and [various other] uses; and from them you obtain food; 5 And for you there is beauty in them as ye drive them at eventide and as ye drive them out to pasture. 6 And they carry your loads to a land that you could not reach except with great trouble to yourselves. Truly, your Lord is full of Kindness, Most Merciful. 7 And horses and mules and asses (hath He created) that ye may ride them, and for ornament. And He createth that which ye know not. 8 And [because He is your Creator,] it rests with God alone to show you the right path: yet there is [many a one] who swerves from it. However, had He so willed, He would have guided you all aright. 9
