The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
