The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
