[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 We shall send the she-camel to try them. So watch them, and be constant. 27 “And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; only those may come whose turn it is.” 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How [terrible] were My punishment and My warnings! 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 We sent down upon them a violent sandstorm (which destroyed them all) except for the family of Lot, whom We saved in the early morning by Our favor. 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
