The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 and they said: "Are we to follow one single mortal, one from among ourselves? In that case, behold, we would certainly sink into error and folly! 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 How terrible was My punishment and warning. 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance.
