The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
