The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
