The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 He created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
