The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 Created man, 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
