The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man, 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 and between them is a barrier which they do not overpass. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
