The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
