The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
