The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those of the right hand. 38
