The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
