The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
