The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
