The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the people of the right hand 38
