The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
