The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
