The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right. 38
