The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
