The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
