The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
