The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and a few from later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
