The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a few from later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
