The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and waters gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
