The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
