The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
