The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And spreading shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
