The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
