The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
