The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virginal, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
