The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
