The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
