The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
