The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
