The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
