A company of the former peoples 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 and shall drink boiling water on top of that. 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you who cause it to descend from the clouds, or do We? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
