These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor good. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 “They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Behold! the water which ye drink: 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We so pleased, We certainly could make it salty. Why, then, are you not grateful? 70 And have you seen the fire that you ignite? 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert. 73 Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. 74
