Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Blessed be He in whose Hand is the Kingdom, He is powerful over all things, 1 who created death and life that He might examine which of you is best in deeds, and He is the Almighty, the Forgiving, 2 Who hath created seven heavens in storeys. Thou shalt not behold in the Compassionate's creation any over-sight; then repeat thy look, beholdest thou any crack? 3 Then turn your vision again, and then again; in the end your vision will come back to you, worn out and frustrated. 4 We have adorned the lower heaven with lamps, and have made them a means to drive away the satans. We have prepared for them the chastisement of the Blazing Fire. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord is the punishment of hell, and evil is the resort. 6 When they are flung therein they hear its roaring as it boileth up, 7 Well-nigh it bursteth with rage. So oft as a company is cast thereinto, the keepers thereof will ask them: came there not unto you a warner? 8 They say, 'Yes indeed, a warner came to us; but we cried lies, saying, "God has not sent down anything; you are only in great error. 9 And they say: Had we been wont to listen or have sense, we had not been among the dwellers in the flames. 10 So they shall acknowledge their sins, but far will be (forgiveness) from the inmates of the burning fire. 11 Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward. 12 AND [know, O men, that] whether you keep your beliefs secret or state them openly, He has full knowledge indeed of all that is in [your] hearts. 13 How could it be that He who has created [all] should not know [all]? Yea, He alone is unfathomable [in His wisdom,] aware! 14
