Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In high empyrean 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
