Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and had not known my account. 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
