Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In an elevated garden, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and had not known my account. 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
