Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a high Garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And not known my account! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
