Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
