Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in an exalted garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
