Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 And not known my account! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
